Olympic Beijing 2008: 7 wonders

I couldn't describe the opening season in words, however...
there's only one word in my mind...

SPECTACULAR.

NOW I HAVE IDEAS OF OPENING CEREMONY FOR ANY EVENTS COMING

As the first day of the 29th Olympic kick off, 7 had won gold in the country and 2 were China first seven golds at stake.

According to The Star, Katerina Emmons was the first gold medallist of the Beijing Olmpics..
but from other sources states that Chen Xiexia was the first..
It really doesn't matter to me, but I watched the WOMEN'S 48KG WEIGHTLIFTING event so I'm sharing more on that..

She started at 95kg snatch, and then 117kg jerk, plus a new Olympic record and winning total of 212kg!! I couldn't even lift 110 pounds of bench press!!

She was in good form as every turn she had, she shouted "Hey! GO!" in Chinese, to cheer herself up before all the six succesfull attemps she made.

And there goes her fans cheering for her!!

Silver medal was taken by Sibel Ozkan of Turkey with 199kg followed by Chen Wei-Ling of Chinese Taipei settled with bronze at 196kg.

Fuuuh!! All that weight!!

I remember once in high school with my throwing partner, Paul Yap. We had this competition of snatch, and clean&jerk..

I was champion with 3 attemps of 60kg,(jerked, it was the easier compare to snatch).

And Paul unable to make the 3rd attemp of 60kg lost to me...

But then again, he beat me the week after... I know, we men lost to Chinese women.

So other gold medalist are Katerina Emmons of Czech (10m air rifle), Pang Wei of China (men's 10m pistol), South Korea's Choi Min-Ho (men's 60kg judo), Romania's Aline Dumitru (women's 48kg judo), American fencer Mariiel Zagunis (women's sabre) and Spanish cyclist Samuel Sanchez (road race)
