Dad came up north, along with Mom. So I thought, haircut.. and better yet, FISHING!
So I drove down from Kampar to Tapah.
I hardly recognized my hometown after 5-7 years, so I nearly got lost in my own hometown. Thanks to Mein Kuok for not helping at all.
And Dad being a dad, loves to nag about my intelligence and stuff like that.
Well, father mah..
So I brought Mein Kuok, once a loser angler in Kampar.. now a pro in Tapah.
Experience once in Tapah when I was young, dad brought me there, caught loads of kind of fish. Prawns too, udang galah but never mind that. So I thought maybe I bring a loser of mine there, perhaps he would had better luck this time haha.

First, it was Ikan Tilapia aka Fei zhao or whatever we called it. We thought there's a lot of of red tilapia but I guess non of their diet plan consist of earthworms.
Mein Kuok was eating the fried rice my mother made for him, while enjoying his meal.. well of course he does my mom was one of the best cook in Tapah!!
Suddenly his rod started to move, and it almost fell into the pond.. He was like whoaa.. Big fish big fish..end up caught a black tilapia. But it was big, bigger than the one I caught in Kampar.
He cook 2 of it last night and fried the tilapia. The tilapia tasted damn good, though it's super salty and super duper oily.. I'd never seen anyone pour so much oil just to deep fry, Hard to explain but imagine the fish it's in a whole bowl of oil.
I caught 2 small tilapia, was quite disappointed but it's okay as long as Mein Kuok actually experience what I felt in Kampar after all those big fish.
Since no fish has any interest for my bait, earthworm..
I switched to frog in the end, aiming for Ikan Baung or Haruan for a change.
Casting whole night but no luck until I'd no hope at all so I started playing my bait around the shore, and suddenly!
Pop, a strong pull.. and then nothing.. and then a stronger pull. I can remember the shouting at the background and I thought it was Haruan. But when I reeled it up I saw this ugly face and was quite familiar after I held it up.
My uncle was like whoaaa!! Broke record! And without hesitation brought to the back and cook it. I was sad cause I couldn't even have another chance to glance at it, the next thing I know.. it's on a dinner plate.
My soon hock!!! I can't even name it, but if I could I'll call in Jeckafish for it's size.
Taste good too, tender meat.
Fishing trip was worthwhile! Mein Kuok had a big smile on his face haha!
Well, time to fish again. Haruan this time!
*off~ sorry for any typo, Pan Siao Yuan was whacking me the whole time with a calculater cause she's bored.
2 bla bla blas:
This brings back memories :) I used to have a pet catfish!
LOL
you keep it till it grow big enough to eat or just as a pet?
I'd 7 soon hock as pet now.. pretty small but when they grow... they end up on my dinner plate =D
